Marketing, Communications & Digital Design Manager focused on clear messaging, digital growth, and audience engagement
About
Hi, I’m Juan. I’m a marketing and communications professional who comes in when something needs to be figured out: a website that’s underperforming, a content strategy that hasn’t kept up, or a communication function that nobody’s really owned yet. That’s the work I find most interesting, and where I thrive.
My background spans law, higher education, and real estate. Across all three, the through line has been the same: organizations doing good work that needed clearer, more consistent ways to communicate it. I’ve built web presences from scratch, developed content systems that teams can maintain, and helped organizations understand what their data is telling them so they can make smarter decisions about where to put their energy.
I’m also professionally fluent in English and Spanish, which has shaped how I think about audiences, access, and what it really means to communicate clearly. What I bring to every organization is the same: a collaborative approach, careful execution, and a genuine investment in getting the work right, not just getting it done.
Strategic Communication
1
Good communication starts with knowing who you’re talking to and what they need to do next. In practice that means going in, figuring out what exists, finding where the message breaks down, and building something cleaner in its place.
Many organizations have a different version of the same problem: good work that wasn’t being communicated well. The fix is rarely just better writing. It’s usually structure: clearer information hierarchy, a more consistent voice, workflows that make it easier for teams to stay on message every time.
Informed Decision-making
2
Before making recommendations or changes, I look at what the data is actually saying: where people are dropping off, what’s getting traction, and where the real opportunity is. That’s what keeps strategy informed instead of based on assumptions.
Most organizations have more useful information than they realize. The work is knowing how to read it, connect it to what the audience needs, and use it to make communication strategy sharper and more deliberate.
Career Highlights
Grew organic traffic by 900% through a full blog redesign, SEO implementation, and the development of a statewide attorney and court directory. It’s the project I’m most proud of, and it contributed to the firm’s highest revenue on record.
Built four web properties from scratch: a redesigned main site, a standalone blog, a Spanish-language microsite, and a dedicated traffic ticket site. Each one serves a different audience and a different purpose.
Currently restructuring the web presence and digital communications for a health sciences university, working on content hierarchy, brand consistency, and how key pages communicate to prospective students, donors, and partners.
Work Experience
My background is in organizations where communication is essential. The work has always been hands-on, usually in lean teams, and almost always involved building something that didn’t exist yet or improving something that wasn’t meeting goals.
